About The Band

Open Sky is back again with their newest album "Let the Light Shine Again." Their sophomore release comes on the heels of the success following their debut Rock/Modern Rock Album of the Year (GMA Canada 2012) "Until the Sun Comes Out Again." "Let the Light Shine Again" picks up where "Until the Sun Comes Out Again" left off featuring a collection of pop/rock tunes including their newest single "Mona Lisa." With the new album likened to a mixture of Matchbox 20 and Hootie and the Blowfish, "Let the Light Shine Again" features industry heavyweights such as the mixing talents of Grammy nominated Adrian Bradford (Matt Kearney, Kenny G, Michael Jackson) and mastering by the legendary Chris Athens (Coldplay, Jason Mraz, Usher). The lead off single "Mona Lisa" is already receiving radio airplay nationwide as well as abroad.

Brothers Mike, Jared and Nathan along with longtime friend Jon have been tirelessly forging songs that feature infectious rhythms and powerful, heartfelt lyrics from their studio in Ottawa, Canada. The past year has proved to be a whirlwind of success for the boys as they were awarded the 2012 GMA Rock/Modern Rock Album of the Year Award and the Fan Choice Award as well as garnering two additional nominations for Best New Artist and CD Artwork of the Year.

Throughout the years leading to this moment Open Sky has worked in various studios across Canada including the prestigious Metalworks Studios in Mississauga and has shared the stage with acts such as Sloan, Starfield, Honeymoon Suite, Social Code, Teddy Geiger and Grammy winners Leeland.

"Hearing the lyrics of our songs is like reading a page from my journal." Mike comments on his writing style. "We just open our hearts and empty them onto the page. Nothing fancy, just raw emotion." And after years of writing, rewriting and fine-tuning Open Sky has brought their music and their hearts to the public and has been met with resounding praise.

A message of hope prevails throughout their music, pushing the listener to press on through whatever life might throw at them. It"s this hope that drives Open Sky as a band and as individuals to live life to the fullest and inspire others through their music to do the same.

It's as the famous playwright Oscar Wilde once said, "We're all in the gutter but some of us are looking at the stars."

And we can only see those stars when there's an Open Sky.
